My name is Yulieth Rico, founder of Dermilu.
I arrived in the United States in 2016 with the most important thing in my life: my three children — a 17-year-old teenager, a 3-year-old girl, and a baby just 5 months old. Immigrating under those circumstances meant starting from zero, with fear, hope, and an immense responsibility: to build a better future for them.
For years, I worked tirelessly in everything within my reach: preparing food, making arepas and empanadas, cleaning houses and apartments, and working in warehouses. It was a period of intense physical and emotional effort. I learned to endure, not to give up, and to value every small step. But I also understood that, although it was honest work, it was not the path that would allow me to fulfill my dreams or develop my true potential.
Before emigrating, in Colombia, I worked in the field of dentistry and had already begun my training in aesthetics — a world that had always been my passion. I was fascinated by understanding the skin, how it behaves, and the profound impact personal care has on people’s self-esteem and confidence. That passion never faded.
Life led me to face one of the most challenging moments of my journey: continuing as a single mother. With limited resources and many responsibilities, I decided to bet on myself. I trained, became certified, and understood that aesthetics is a constantly evolving field that requires ongoing study, professional judgment, and real commitment.
That is how Milu Aesthetic was born — my professional space and the place where I confirmed my purpose. By caring for my patients, listening to their stories, and observing recurring needs, I realized that many people didn’t need more products, but better products: well-thought-out, safe, and effective formulas.
I then began a deep research process: studying active ingredients, formulations, and components, with a clear vision of quality and responsibility. Along that path, I understood something fundamental: skin and hair care begins at the foundation, and a healthy scalp is essential for hair to look strong, balanced, and beautiful.
With perseverance, love, and vision, Dermilu was born — my brand, created to offer real solutions through a facial and hair care line designed for simple, effective routines that respect both the skin and the scalp.
Dermilu is the reflection of my story, of years of learning, and of a deep conviction: when personal care is done with science, experience, and heart, the results are truly felt.
